German Language Lesson
Our friends from Chemnitz can offer a brief language lesson for your class or group. They will teach you some words and phases, and then, you’ll have a fun quiz at the end! The lessons may be adapted depending on age/grade level and language skills.

Hunting History

 Small groups of students work together to answer three questions at each of 12 stations; displays of major aspects of history; question packets are designed for local, Ohio and American histories based upon Ohio Proficiency’s curriculum standards for each grade.

Hands-on Learning

 The Arts & Games of Marbles

How to hold and shoot a marble, the rules and strategies for the most popular children’s games in American history; learn the history of Akron’s 32 marble companies and marble tournaments. Students also learn the economics of ‘mass-production,’ the ‘science of spheres’ and experience 19th century’s child labor by making clay marbles.

Lighter-Than Air; What’s Up

Akron’s airship industry - past and future – learn the scientific principles of buoyant flight, lighter-than-air gases (helium v. hydrogen) and participate in a balloon launch.
